Supercolor 3D

Since 2003, Jérôme Noetinger and Lionel Palun have been exploring territories where sound becomes image and image becomes sound. With Supercolor Palunar, they created an audiovisual improvisation system based on an idea as simple as it is disconcerting: what happens when you plug a video output into an audio input, then an audio output into a video input? This deliberate short circuit gives rise to a fascinating universe in which signals answer, disrupt and transform one another, shattering images and unsettling perception in a psychedelic, cosmic and deeply hypnotic whirlwind.

The duo brings together two major figures in experimental art. Composer of musique concrète, improviser and pioneer of electroacoustic music, Jérôme Noetinger handles tape recorders, electronics and sound diffusion systems as instruments in their own right. Alongside him, visual artist Lionel Palun subverts image technologies to reveal their electrical substance and invent new forms of perception.

Twenty years after the beginnings of Supercolor Palunar, their research enters a new phase with Supercolor 3D. Through an immersive stereoscopic setup, the audience is plunged into a space where sounds and images spontaneously intertwine in an ongoing improvisation. True to its experimental and transgressive spirit, this new version offers a fully immersive sensory experience in which visual depth, spatialised sound and electronic feedback create an ever-changing landscape. A disorienting yet exhilarating journey at the crossroads of live music, experimental cinema and installation art.

Jérôme and Lionel invited filmmaker and performer Djamila Daddi-Addoun to join the SuperColor 3D adventure and explore stereoscopic filming with them. Together, they experiment with different ways of filming gestures and spaces, making the most of the depth inherent in 3D imagery.

Djamila Daddi-Addoun‘s presence brings a more tangible dimension to the abstract world of SuperColor, as filming itself becomes a new compositional element, transformed and manipulated in real time during the performance.
